This 2 piece set of gold foil $500 and $1,000 notes are struck from 100 milligrams of 24k gold. These recreations use the same exact design as the actual $500 and $1,000 certificates. The $500: this design is taken from the 1928 $500 Note that features President William McKinley's portrait (prior issues featured Abraham Lincoln). This design is just 1 of only 2 designs that exist for this denomination of currency. McKinley helped pass the Gold Standard Act of 1900 and even used a gold pen to sign the documents! The $1,000: this design is taken from the ONLY small note $1,000 gold certificate to ever be issued back in 1928. This featured Grover Cleveland (prior larger issues had Alexander Hamilton). The reverse of the note simply states "1,000" and "One Thousand Dollars." These replica's are the first of their kind to use this new minting technology and each one of them literally shine!
