Formally called the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge Half Dollar, this was issued for the opening of the bridge in 1936 (November 12). The bridge has one of the longest spans in the United States and nicknamed the "Golden Bear" for California's State symbol. This was struck at the San Francisco Min and only 71,424 were made. This is significantly lower than today's "rarities" at 500,000!
