The first baseball coin has a unique story. It was a special release silver dollar back in 1992 featuring a design of a picture firing a ball to home plate. Now to the controversy - if you look at the John R. Deecken design and compare it to the 1990 Fleet Baseball card of Nolan Ryan, it looks like the same design....actually the same exact design! It is against the law for a living person to be placed on a U.S. Coin and yet you see it right in front of your face. It also explains why the United States Mint did not advertise this coin, and the mintage figures are miniscule at best.
This 1992 XXV Olympiad Proof Silver Dollar was minted in San Francisco. It has a mintage of 504,505.
This coin comes in its original government packaging.
