The U.S. Mint released 4 new Cent designs in 2009, each honoring a historical part in Abraham Lincoln's life.
We are offering all FOUR coins in the series, Birth and Early Childhood, Formative Years in Indiana, Professional Life In Illinois, and Presidency in Washington D.C.. The first cent features the log cabin design symbolic of Abraham Lincoln's birthplace and childhood. The second release depicts a young Abraham Lincoln reading while taking a break from working as a "Rail Splitter" in Indiana. The third design (Professional Life) in the series portrays Lincoln standing in front of the State Capitol in Illinois, and the final cent (Presidency) portrays the half finished United States Capitol dome in Washington, DC. Each coin includes the inscriptions "United States of America," "E Pluribus Unum" and "One Cent."
