Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd President of the United States. He was the grandson of William Henry Harrison, our 9th President. Harrison served the Union during the Civil War as a Brigadier General in the XX Corps of the Army of the Cumberland. He was appointed to the U.S. Senate in 1881. Harrison is most remembered for his economic legislation, which included the McKinley Tariff and the Sherman Antitrust Act. He is known as the Centennial President, because his inauguration celebrated the centenary of the first inauguration of George Washington in 1789. Under Harrison's Presidency, six states were entered into the Union, more than any one President since Washington.
The historic Presidential Dollar series began in 2007 with coins for George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. This is the FIRST coin program in U.S. History to honor all of America's Presidents, and it is destined to be the most popular collection in history, even BIGGER and more popular than the State Quarters!
