Millard Fillmore was the 13th President of the United States. He was born January 7th, 1800 and died March 8th, 1874. Upon the unexpected death of President Taylor, Fillmore ascended to the Presidency. Prior to his tenure, he revised New York's banking system, making it a model for the future National Banking System. Fillmore also sent Commodore Perry to open Japan to Western Trade. He was the last member of the Whig part to hold the office of President.
The historic Presidential Dollar series began in 2007 with coins for George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison. This is the FIRST coin program in U.S. History to honor all of America's Presidents, and it is destined to be the most popular collection in history, even BIGGER and more popular than the State Quarters!
