James K. Polk became the 11th President of the United States on March 4th, 1845. He was born November 2nd, 1795 and died June 15th 1849. At 49, he became the youngest man at the time to assume the Presidency. During his tenure, Polk as known as "Young Hickory" and the "Napoleon of the Stump," due to his speaking skills.
