Description

Over 100 million coins were made, but only a fraction (less than 3 %) were made out of silver! Was it meant to be a secret? Probably not, but with so few made, it easily can be slated that no one knew about it until now. People are looking at their collections and noticing differences??....There are Silver coins mixed in! When the United States Mint in San Francisco struck the .400 silver coins, it actually created two different versions: Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated. So as not to confuse the silver coins with the circulation-strike copper-nickel coins, they were issued exclusively to collectors in unique "Blue" and "Brown" packs. This is the Brilliant Uncirculated, "Blue" packaged version of the Silver coin. The coin is protected in special packaging, along with a Blue U.S Mint Token that states the coin is an "Uncirculated Silver Dollar." A Blue envelope completes this distinctive packaging. Both of the Blue and Brown packs were struck each year from 1971-1974. None were minted in 1975, due to the fact that the U.S. Mint was preparing for the Bicentennial issue. Due to the high cost of silver bullion, it is unlikely that the Ike Dollar will ever be struck again, in silver. All Eisenhower Silver Dollars were struck at the San Francisco Mint and bear the "S" Mint mark above the date on the obverse. The mintages of these Silver coins are very small - and because the coins were made available ONLY in "Brown" or "Blue" packaging, they are difficult to find. The Eisenhower silver Dollar is the only US Mint issue Silver Dollar struck honoring one of our Presidents...get yours today!
