Since its inception in 2000, the United States Mint has produced three versions of this brilliant Golden Dollar. They are as follows; the first two versions of the coin were minted at the Philadelphia and the Denver Mints, are otherwise known as the "P" and the "D" Mint. The third was a special issue just for collectors, it is known as the Proof. This final and more valuable version of the Sacagawea coin was produced at the San Francisco Mint. The United States Mint hasn't released the Sacagawea Dollar into circulation since 2001. Only since 2002 have small quantities been made available and primarily only available for collectors.
